The undertaking of a world conference to discuss urban development presents an opportunity to make commitments for the future, towards a better life and greater well-being, by fighting social inequalities and segregations, changing cities into democratic spaces accessible to all and places for realization of rights and the enjoyment of opportunities. Brazil is preparing for the Conference in a participatory and inclusive way, based on the understanding that the urban challenge requires engagement of all three levels of government and society, as well as partnership between them. This political commitment is fundamental to build solutions and strategies that guide Brazil to overcome its hardships, aiming at building a fair, more equalitarian, economically and environmentally sustainable society.
